an excerpt from Chapter one

Sexual harassment occurs in many workplaces, but it is not confined to work. Harassing behaviors are also frequently found in the dating scene, marriage, medicine, the military, educational institutions and religious groups.
Sexual harassment is wrong--whether in the Navy, a doctor’s office, church, an insurance office, or a shipping room. It is an out-and-out breach of moral decency by the offender. It’s also a violation of the victim’s personal boundaries. The end result is a demeaning and shaming of the victim, even if the comments and actions are disguised as flattery.
Not only does sexual harassment damage the victim, but, it is also a blight on society. And from our point of view as Christian counselors, sexual harassment is totally alien to the model which Jesus Christ gives us for relating to people.
Sexual harassment is real and it is pervasive. We believe victims and victimizers alike need to be alerted and educated. Along with helping you understand the problem, we want to coach you on how to prevent harassment--how to be neither a victim, nor a perpetrator.
