| Becki
is a busy mom and a professional speaker with a magnetic
sparkle! When she was sixteen years old, her left leg
was removed above the knee because of bone cancer. God
gave her a miraculous attitude of acceptance and adventure
right from the beginning.
Becki has the delightful ability to put people at
ease about her disability--while talking naturally
and candidly about Christ. She is often asked to help
other people who are facing their own disabilities.
She is a humorous and insightful speaker. She also
is an author who has appeared on several television
shows, radio talk shows, and in many magazines and
newspapers. She is a popular speaker at meetings for
all ages and interests. She has participated in conferences
with her parents, Jim and Sally Conway--before Sally
died in 1997.
The Lord has given Becki exceptional physical ability
to continue most sports (running, biking, skating,
swimming, water and snow skiing, volleyball, rappelling,
gymnastics, horseback riding, and others--all without
her prosthesis).
Becki has worked full-time as a recreation therapist,
helping to rehabilitate other disabled people. As
a nationally certified handicapped ski instructor,
she volunteers time to instruct disabled skiers. She
also has a chair-caning business called "Raising
Cane".
She is mother of three girls: Hayden Anne, Emily
Ives, and Addison (Addie) Charlotte,
and Twin boys: Vanson and Lincoln.
What
Others Say
"I have heard that tape several
times [Becki Walters and Jim Conway talking about
Beckis amputation], and it still moves me deeply.
I can feel [the] pain because Im so vulnerable
to my own children. I havent had to go through
that kind of agony, but I can identify."
Dr. James Dobson, "Focus on the Family"
"We appreciate ministering together with you and your family.
Its neat that you care so much for other people with disabilities."
Joni Eareckson Tada, "Joni and Friends"
