What's New? For anyone that will go through, is going through, has gone through, or knows someone going through MIDLIFE.

Thanks for your prayers for Jan's father, Harry.

Monday afternoon update – 3/8/2010 –  by Lisa for Jim and Jan

Harry has come through his series of heart attacks, he is a very strong man. He is now back in his condo and doing well for his age and what he's been through.

Jan and I arrived back in Hawaii last night, and although we're exhausted from the time change and the jet lag, we're so grateful for what the Lord has done and how He used this time to bless us, our ministry, and Jan's book, The finisher.

Thank you all for your prayers, cards, emails, and even the financial support to keep Midlife Dimensions up and running while we were gone! We truly appreciate all of you, your love, and caring hearts. We'll now get settled once again, and back to work doing what God has in store for us.

Love and blessings to all of you, Jim and Jan Conway

Should I Feel Guilty About Wanting To Feel Good At Midlife?

God intends for us to feel good about who we are at every stage of life. Focus on working the following 3 areas--workinWoman reading Bibleg in a career which matches your gifts and abilities, deepening your relationships with family and friends, and knowing God in a more personal way. Improving these three areas will help your self image to improve.

Self-image is how we see ourselves. Self-esteem is how we value ourselves. Quite often these two concepts are linked together. If a person has a low self-image, they also will not value themselves very much. The reverse is true. A person who does not value themselves much tends to have a limited view of who they are as a person.

Woman Applying MakeupIn discussions of self-image and self-esteem, Christians often raise questions about pride and humility. Pride is claiming that all we are is the result of our own effort and strength. Pride implies that God and other people have not contributed to our lives. We claim to be self-made people.

As you understand who you are and work through the issues at midlife, then you should feel better about yourself.

Humility means that we accurately assess who we are, with both strengths and weaknesses. "Be honest in your estimate of yourselves, measuring your value by how much faith God has given you" (Romans 12:3b).
