Young couples should work out problems as they arise, not ignoring them until they become monumental at midlife when other major life changes are happening. Learn to communicate frequently and adequately so that you understand each other’s feelings and meet each other's needs. Work at resolving conflicts so that your bonding to each other grows.
Other areas to be worked on before midlife include exercise, regular relaxation, improved self-esteem, stronger relationships, and healthy career direction. Of course, a strong, vital relationship with God is very important. The more a person experiences God's care and faithfulness, the greater the resources they will have when the midlife difficulties hit.
